Still Point supports and organizes campus events, workshops and opportunities for contemplative inquiry, pedagogy and practice that encourage deep learning and well-being in ourselves and our students.

What is contemplative inquiry?

Contemplative inquiry is an introspective, critical first-person approach to learning across the academic disciplines. Contemplative inquiry allows us to appreciate the deeper meaning of our ideas and experiences and bring a richer discernment to our action in the world. It includes diverse forms, such as yoga, breathing work, deep listening exercises, mindfulness meditation and reflective journaling, which research has shown to enrich capacities for:

  • self-awareness
  • clear attention
  • well-being
  • compassion and empathy
  • leadership develop
  • academic performance
